It’s been almost a year since Mazzy’s Bat Mitzvah, but now that I have a little distance from it, plus I have some professional photos to share (taken by Dave Robbins), I wanted to put a few more things in writing before I forget them.
Everything looked amazing! Excited for part 2! It is interesting about the being present in the moment. My sister is amazing at capturing these candid random moments at big events. Professional photographers are amazing with their official edited often posed pictures, but I love random takes. I often wondered if my sister could make a job of it... obviously not make as much as a photographer. But being able to get an unedited candid photo dump right after an event sounds great! Sounds like Leah did this for you and we are all grateful for it!
The theme/colors looks AMAZING! I remember you discussing the colors of the ballooons. And the colors with all the pink look so great!😍 Growing up in NYC is probably the coolest thing ever, and the view from the party does seem like an amazing experience. What I love about these "big birthdays" is capturing so much of their personality in that moment. Stuff that is fun, whimsical, but also grown up and very much their "grown up" self as well. Your planner was worth every penny. Can't wait for more updates!
I have to confess that I skipped the reading and went straight to the pictures! One - I'm working and want to read it when I can take my time and enjoy it. Two - was dying to see more photos! It looks so AMAZING. What a great memory for Mazzy. I love the putting your phone away. Yes, you miss documenting certain moments, but it does make you stay present. Another factor in enjoying it to the fullest, imo, is having a coordinator. You're truly just part of the party and not running around dealing with logistics. Any parents planning Bat/Bar Mitzvahs, Sweet 16s or Quinceaneras, do yourself a HUGE favor and hire a coordinator. It will be worth every penny, believe me. I did not hire one, well I thought I had but it didn't work out, and I couldn't enjoy my daughter's 15 as much as I wanted to. It's too much, too overwhelming. Let someone else figure out what to do when the champagne runs out or you realize you don't have forks for the cake.... Spend as much as you have to to guarantee that Mom also enjoys the day because we also matter.
