Awwww, I love this - also I am very fortunate to know which are deemed Ilana vs. Mike departments. Happy Anniversary, excited for the upcoming celebration in Nashville!
Imagining you two sitting in your kitchen passing your laptops back and forth was such a sweet and wholesome image. I love the way you give this man credit and have never once pretended you do everything yourself, which not many other influencers/online personalities can say. Happy Anniversary, guys! ❤️
I love this so much! MY Mike and I have been married 16 years, and I sent him this article. He said I could've written it. We designed our own wedding and we almost put "Lauren: Creative Director; Mike: Director of Logistics" on our program. A happy marriage is all about knowing your strengths and when to stay in your lane! Case in point: last vacation I tried to step up and help with logistics and we ended up with return flights from the WRONG city!
We are married 17 years this year too! You two are clearly well matched, and happy. That takes a LOT of work. Maybe you should write a book about that for younger people thinking about getting married, or give this to them as part of a wedding gift?
Thank you for sharing your perspectives on your marriage in such an insightful and genuine way. I have long admired “watching” your and Mike’s relationship from afar as I have followed you for the past 10+ years. From the daily tasks of raising kids (“thanks Mike for always packing Harlow’s ballet bag when I forget it is dance day until our walk to the studio”) to the bigger decisions of how to move through life (I still remember you and him consciously choosing to have a date night in honor of the sudden passing of your friend’s husband so you could both reflect on the loss and appreciate your marriage in his memory), I’ve always been impressed with the way you and Mike work as a team. And I think you sum it up beautifully in this piece - it’s not that you are incapable of doing some of these tasks without Mike, and vice versa, BUT rather that each of you love, respect and trust the other enough to use your talents to make the other’s life easier. What a great example for your girls - and Leah! - to see each day. And thank you for sharing a piece of it with us!
I can't tell you how many times, I'm like, Shit! I forgot to do such and such for the kids or myself and now it's too late! Only to find that it has already been done by Mike who is always thinking ahead, even about the things that you don't think is on his radar. Like back before apple pay, when we needed to use metrocards, he would somehow always know that was mine was about to run out and replace it for me without saying a word.
This is beautiful! Are you familiar with Eve Rodsky’s Fair Play? She describes exactly this when it comes to healthy division of labor, epically that one person owns one department soup to nuts.
Happy anniversary and congrats on what you’ve built! Xx
Love you, mom and dad #2! Thank you for giving me a hands on crash course in all things marriage. Griffin and I will be stronger because of it ❤️
This is so sweet! ❤️

Does Mike never piss on the toilet seat or make irritating sounds when he eats like all the other husbands? 🫢
Awe didn’t realize we got married on the same day
Happy Anniversary 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
