“Currently Consuming” is a regular series I plan to write about what I’m watching, reading, listening to, etc. But let’s be honest— mostly watching. In my past mommy blogging life, the only shows/movies I ever wrote about were G rated, so I’m excited to write about stuff that isn’t animated by Pixar. Although, I have to say, those Pixar movies are a hell of a lot better than the crap I am currently watching.
“Tiny screen” watching in bed but also with my over the ear headphones so I turn it loud enough (AKA so I can hear the bad dialogue) over the sounds of a fan on medium blast, and a white noise machine to proactively quell the husband’s snoring. I will be 40 In December. #AllThingsWorkTogetherForGood
I just watched season 4 on netflix. I was angry at myself for watching such garbage. I thought to myself “I know other people must feel the way that I do” so I googled “Manifest worst show ever” and stumbled on your blog. Let me say that you hit EVERY nail on the head with this review. From the bad writing, to the bad acting, to the abandoned story lines, to the excessive reference to the word “calling” . 😂 its all true!
This is hilarious. I'm 41 and the interesting premise has turned to hatewatching. I found this by googling "manifest sucks". Thanks for making me feel like others know my pain/incredulity. I literally laughed out loud reading this piece. Thanks again.
You are not being too hard on the show, the writers, or the actors. The director needs the most blame though. I mean, who could stand by and produce such schlock and let the actors get away with such melodramatic, over the top, high school drama club antics. But yeah, I have been hate watching it too. I think one of my dying thoughts may be self disgust at wasting precious hours of life doing so, but there you are.
So we saw Manifest trending on Netflix and thought it looked so interesting, we had to watch it. And we LOVE IT. We have literally binge-watched the entire thing to the end and are pumped for a fourth season. I’m so shocked to see how much everyone hates it! I really don’t enjoy tv and don’t get sucked into much. In fact, this is the only series I’ve finished in….years. I think the only other show I’ve finished in the last 5 years (at least) was Modern Family. But I was hooked on this and so was my wife. We ate it up! I thought the writing was predictable in what they would say next sometimes, but that’s about it. I can’t wrap my mind around why we like it and everyone hates it! 🤣
I highly enjoyed reading your blog, I just finished watching 2 seasons on Netflix and I was wondering if there is anyone else out there thinking how freaking stupid this show is, and why have I kept watching it?! Haha! My god it’s bad! You have described it perfectly, I hope Netflix reads your post and hopefully gets some better writers for season 4. I need closure! Thank god for Jared, the only character worth watching! I hate he didn’t get to keep the girl!
I started watching it a few weeks ago knowing it was going to be bad, but everyone in the show grew on me! Ben the overthinker overdoer father just trying to save his son! Creepy little Cal with his creepy little drawings! Mic the youngest and prettiest detective you'll ever find on the NYPD force whose hair always keeps the best curl nomatter what situation she's in! And Jared's forever love for Mic?! **swoon**! LOL I just finished season three and have been reading about a lot of rumors that manifest will come back! I just hope it won't return five years later! 😅
Manifest reminded me of a soap opera. I think that’s why we watched it like our grandmothers, and some others mothers, before us. My husband watched 3 minutes and said awful acting, I said, I know, I know. It literally just sat on the TV while I played a game on my phone, or ran around the house doing things. The dying/coming back to life, silly predictable romances, terrible acting, awful writing just made me feel better about myself I guess. Like, that’s terrible, I’m great lol maybe we watched it for our self esteem because we all know it wasn’t not good at all. But they got our time and time is money! So they win either way.
I plowed through Manifest(as questionable as it was 😂 Left my husband in the dust because he had the audacity to keep falling asleep! And then moved right on to Sex/life which was… not the best either but still kinda good lol.
i'm now on season 3 (thanks hulu!) and this show is 100% ridic, but i can't stop watching. there are many moments deserving of an eye roll, but these are the ones that made me lol for real:
* armored car murder guy vomiting water for way too long
* Olive after TJ tunneled out of the nightclub fire, guided by chanting monks: "you found your path to enlightenment"
* Ben's glowing hand
honorable mention: ben's crystal-clear facetime video with cal and mick from cuba. at least they smashed up mini paparazzi kid's iphone to make it look like something he'd found.
meanwhile, two guest stars who really deserve better: bode from the wire and paige from the americans.
So I haven't watched, but your descriptions have me intrigued....but then it's gonna end with a cliffhanger because it got canceled early?! I'm torn. I kind of want to watch, but I hate when I start a show only for it to be canceled. Years ago my husband and I watched "Alcatraz" on Fox and we were really enjoying it...only for it to be canceled after 1 season; it still bugs me that we won't have answers?! Lol.

I had to give up after 4 episodes as i was getting more angry each time. I did Google “makaylas eye brows@ because WTAF??!! Love this post!
