Love the recap - especially since I have an 11 yr old! Unlocking the movies is huge! We did that pretty early around here but my daughter is an only child and I feel like all those awkward scenes actually helps us talk about things as a family and answer those embarrassing questions. We are in the middle of watching pretty little liars and have discussed how dating your teacher is not appropriate 🤣 but it has allowed us to talk about friendships and other relationships that we might not have done

As a single parent, I was never so happy as when my son could finally watch interesting movies and tv shows! Hes 20 now and we have regular movie/tv dates. I also introduced him to things beyond cartoons and Marvel-type shows around 13.

This is way better than those humble brag letters people send in Christmas cards.

I mean, I actually enjoyed this and didn’t roll my eyes once.

I watched Bad Words last night with my 15 and 12 year old. Borderline (ok maybe not borderline) inappropriate, and we all laughed so hard.

This was a fun read. We’ve been watching more adult like movies and it’s so fun. We showed our 10 yr old Airplane! the other day and she was cracking up. She yelled “I like old-timey movies!” Which was both awesome and a swift kick in the back pain. Tell Mazzy thanks for raising money for LLS. That same 10 yr old has a best friend that is 3 yrs in remission. The only downside to this is I realized I’m missing out on the Shorties content. My own fault. I am not on IG a ton so I’m not so up on how to find stuff. Lol! Happy birthday to Frankie!

I definitely need colonoscopy advice. I’m 51, and very overdue, but kinda terrified of the prep (I live in a one bathroom house with 3 adults). Help

Laughed at your description of turning the expander. Both of my daughters have had them - the youngest currently has hers - and every week it’s a struggle.

Juno is such a good coming of age/indie/rom com. We are moving into the big kids (almost 11 and 7) so our movie and TV choices are changing and my 7 year old has become obsessed with watching sports and my husband could not be more excited to have someone to watch Sports Center with!

My mom could not even watch the orthodontist turn my expander, so I just told him I’d do it myself in an exasperated voice. I was around Harlow’s age, which seems so young now, but I felt old and more mature than my mom at that moment. 🤣

Oh gosh, I have so much to add to the film chat I may need to start a Substack of my own 😂

Stepbrothers… I’m with you on that one, we LOVE that movie. Watched it recently with the 14 year-old and it was way ruder, and with far more extreme swear words than we remembered. The drum-kit scene 🙈

My kids (ages 14 and 10) love an action film so we’ve watched a load of films with the Rock, and Knight & Day was a hit. We also love all our old childhood films (I know it’s basic); Goonies, Ghostbusters, Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Princess Bride etc.

1) my mom and I send each other our Wordle every day ❤️. It's a simple and fun way to connect.

3) my daughter had a pallette expander also. Torture for the whole family. But she became more agreeable to it as she could visibly see the progress.

Loved the recap! And wow, unlocking movies is something I didn’t even consider looking forward to, and now I can’t wait to watch Superbad and Step Brothers with my kids one day 🤣 Have the girls seen Scott Pilgrim? I feel like that’s a perfect one and the same vein as 500 Days and Juno. And 10 Things I Hate About You of course! Good luck on Tuesday! 🥴

I loved this "recap" especially the movie suggestions... helps me as a grandmother of a teen in high school. I am totally out of the loop of movies so Thank You! Also, the fundraising that Mazzy is doing is amazing and I think my granddaughter would love to join a group like that...competition for a charitable cause is such a good thing. I so appreciate you sharing so much!
